Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Cooking spray or olive oil for misting

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, soak the chicken tenders in buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight) to tenderize and flavor the chicken.

Prepare the Breading Stations: Set up three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the flour mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). In the second dish, add the beaten egg (optional for extra richness), and in the third dish, place the breadcrumbs.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the buttermilk and let any excess drip off. Dredge each tender first in the seasoned flour, then in the egg (if using), and finally in the breadcrumbs, ensuring even coverage. Press the breadcrumbs firmly onto the chicken for a better crust.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry the Tenders: Place the breaded chicken tenders in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. Mist with cooking spray or lightly drizzle with olive oil for extra crispiness.

Cook: Air fry the chicken tenders for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. An internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) should be reached.

Serve: Once cooked, remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like honey mustard, BBQ, or ranch.
