Ingredients

2 large flour tortillas

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 large apple (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and thinly sliced

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)

Salt to taste

Optional: Chopped walnuts for crunch

Instructions

Prepare the Apples: In a medium bowl, toss the thinly sliced apples with cinnamon and a pinch of salt if desired. This step brings out the natural sweetness and flavor of the apples.

Assemble the Quesadilla: Place one tortilla flat on a clean surface. Evenly distribute half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the tortilla. Next, layer the cinnamon apples on top of the cheese, followed by the remaining cheddar cheese. Place the second tortilla on top to create a sandwich.

Cook the Quesadilla: In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Carefully place the quesadilla in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.

Flip and Finish Cooking: Use a large spatula to flip the quesadilla carefully. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet if needed. Cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until it’s golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Once cooked, remove the quesadilla from the skillet and let it sit for a minute before slicing it into wedges. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and sprinkle with chopped walnuts for added texture and sweetness if desired.

Enjoy! Serve warm as a delicious snack or a unique appetizer.
