Ingredients

3 medium-sized apples (honeycrisp or fuji work well)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional)

Cooking spray or parchment paper (for lining the baking sheet)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray it with cooking spray.

      Prepare the Apples:

Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, slice the apples into thin slices (about 1/8 inch thick) while keeping the skin on for added flavor and nutrition.

          Toss in Lemon Juice:

Place the apple slices in a mixing bowl and drizzle with lemon juice. This will prevent browning and add a subtle tartness to the chips.

              Mix Cinnamon Sugar:

In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and sea salt (if using). Mix well to ensure the cinnamon is evenly distributed.

                  Coat Apple Slices:

Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the lemon-draped apple slices, tossing gently to coat evenly.

                      Arrange on Baking Sheet:

Spread the coated apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overlapping for even baking.

                          Bake:

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours. Check periodically; the apple chips are done when they are dry and crisp to the touch. (Baking times may vary depending on thickness and moisture content of the apples.)

                              Cool and Store:

Once baked, remove the apple chips from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, they will continue to crispen up. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
