Ingredients

1 large French baguette or ciabatta loaf

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh basil, finely chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1 teaspoon oregano (dried or fresh)

1 pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

1 cup fresh mozzarella, sliced (or pearl mozzarella balls)

1 large ripe tomato, sliced

½ cup fresh basil leaves

2 tablespoons balsamic glaze

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped basil, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Slice the Bread: Cut the baguette or ciabatta in half lengthwise. If you prefer smaller pieces, you can cut it into individual servings.

Spread the Garlic Butter: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture onto both halves of the bread, ensuring complete coverage to maximize flavor.

Bake the Bread: Place the buttered bread halves face up on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start getting golden and crispy.

Add Toppings: Carefully remove the garlic bread from the oven. Layer the fresh mozzarella slices over the bread, followed by the tomato slices. Sprinkle with extra salt, black pepper, and fresh basil leaves.

Broil for Finish: Return the bread to the oven and switch to broil mode. Broil for an additional 2-4 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is melty and bubbly and the bread is perfectly toasted.

Drizzle Balsamic Glaze: Take the garlic bread out of the oven, and drizzle with balsamic glaze for a sweet-tangy finish.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with extra fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving warm.
