Ingredients

4 large ripe tomatoes (preferably heirloom for flavor and color)

8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese (bocconcini or burrata)

1 cup fresh basil leaves (whole)

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tbsp balsamic glaze (or balsamic vinegar)

Sea salt, to taste

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Tomatoes: Wash and slice the tomatoes into thick rounds (about ½ inch). Arrange them on a serving platter in a circular pattern or in alternating rows.

Slice the Mozzarella: Depending on your choice of mozzarella, either slice the bocconcini in half or cut the burrata into quarters. Place the cheese slices in between the tomato slices on the platter for a colorful display.

Add the Basil: Tuck whole basil leaves between the tomato and mozzarella slices, making sure to distribute them evenly for bursts of flavor.

Dress the Salad: Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the salad, followed by the balsamic glaze. Adjust the amount according to your preference.

Season: Sprinkle sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the top to enhance the flavors. Be generous but careful not to overpower the fresh ingredients.

Serve: For the best taste, let the salad sit for about 10-15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve fresh as an appetizer or side salad.
