1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup granulated sugar

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

½ cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

For the Toffee Crunch Topping:

1 cup crushed toffee candy (like Heath bars)

½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

Drizzle of melted chocolate (for optional decoration)

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream Butter and Sugars: In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.

        Incorporate Eggs and Milk: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk, alternating between the two, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Ensure everything is well combined but don’t over-mix.

          Bake Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
