Ingredients

1 cup orzo pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces

3 cloves garlic, minced

4 cups chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Orzo: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the orzo. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Chicken: In the same pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through with a golden brown exterior. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Cook Asparagus: In the same pot, add the asparagus pieces and sauté for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

Make the Cream Sauce: Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 3-5 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken slightly.

Combine Ingredients: Stir in the cooked orzo, chicken, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until everything is well coated and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a little more broth or cream to reach your desired consistency.

Finish and Serve: Add the lemon zest and stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
