1 package (9 oz) cheese tortellini

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juices)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (plus more for garnish)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions
 

Cook the Tortellini: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the cheese tortellini according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

    Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

      Add Tomatoes: Pour in the diced tomatoes with their juices. Stir and allow to simmer for about 3-4 minutes.

        Make it Creamy: Lower the heat and slowly stir in the heavy cream. Allow it to combine and simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

          Seasoning: Add the chopped basil, dried oregano, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. If you like a bit of heat, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
