14 oz firm tofu, drained and pressed

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

½ cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional, for a cheesy flavor)

1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (almond, soy, or oat)

2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari

Cooking spray or olive oil, for drizzling

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

    Prepare the Tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes or nuggets. You can slice it into slabs and then cut those into squares, or simply cut into bite-sized pieces.

      Make the Breading Stations:

        - In one shallow dish, combine the flour or cornstarch with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and nutritional yeast (if using).

          - In a second shallow dish, combine the plant-based milk and soy sauce.

            - In a third dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.

              Bread the Tofu:

                - Take each piece of tofu and first coat it in the flour mixture, tapping off excess.

                  - Dip it into the plant-based milk mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
