Ingredients

8 large eggs

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 cup chopped chives (or green onions)

1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated biscuit dough (e.g., buttermilk biscuits)

2 tablespoons melted butter

Optional: hot sauce for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Biscuit Base: Open the refrigerated biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Cut each biscuit into quarters and evenly spread them out over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Mix the Egg Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.

Incorporate Cheese and Chives: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped chives into the egg mixture, mixing until everything is evenly distributed.

Combine with Biscuits: Pour the egg and cheese mixture gently over the biscuit pieces in the baking dish. Use a spatula to ensure the biscuit pieces are covered evenly.

Add a Buttery Finish: Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the egg and biscuit mixture to add a rich flavor.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the egg is set and the tops of the biscuits are golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 5-10 minutes. This will make cutting and serving easier.

Garnish and Enjoy: Cut into squares and serve warm, with optional hot sauce for a spicy kick if desired.
