1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

For the fudge topping:

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For garnish (optional):

Whipped cream

Fresh raspberries or strawberries

Chocolate shavings

Instructions

Prepare the oven and pie dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with butter or non-stick spray for easy removal.

Make the brownie base: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove from the heat and stir in the granulated sugar. Incorporate the eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.

Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the butter-egg mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Bake the brownie layer: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pie dish, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Prepare the fudge topping: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and the chocolate chips are melted.

Layer the pie: Once the brownie base has cooled slightly, pour the fudge topping over the brownie layer, spreading it evenly. Return the pie to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, allowing the fudge to set.

Cool and serve: Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature. For best results, chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.

Garnish and enjoy: Slice the pie and serve with whipped cream, fresh raspberries or strawberries, and chocolate shavings, if desired.
