Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Sear the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced flank steak; season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining butter. Once melted, add the chopped onion; sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Then, add the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for another minute until fragrant.

Deglaze and Combine: Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any stuck bits, and let the sauce simmer for about 3-4 minutes.

Combine Pasta and Beef: Add the cooked pasta and seared beef back into the skillet. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired sauce consistency. Mix well to combine all flavors.

Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
