Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 3/4 cups milk

1/2 cup molasses

1/4 cup melted unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Vanilla Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat the Waffle Iron: Start by preheating your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Then mix in the milk, molasses, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix. The batter may be slightly lumpy, which is okay!

Cook the Waffles: Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or melted butter. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the waffle iron (amount may vary based on waffle iron size) and close the lid. Cook according to your waffle iron’s instructions—typically for about 3-5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown.

Prepare the Vanilla Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the thickness by adding more milk or powdered sugar as necessary.

Serve: Once the waffles are cooked, carefully remove them from the waffle iron and place them on a plate. Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the warm waffles.

Optional Toppings: Enhance your waffles with toppings such as whipped cream, chopped nuts, or festive sprinkles.
