1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Blanch the Green Beans:

    Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes until vibrant and crisp-tender. Drain and immediately plunge them into an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

      Sauté the Garlic:

        In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and golden brown, being careful not to burn it.

          Combine Ingredients:

            Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, tossing them in the olive oil and garlic mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes until the beans are heated through.

              Finish with Lemon:

                Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice to infuse a zesty flavor. If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top, allowing it to melt slightly into the beans.
