Ingredients

4 cups cooked navy beans (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)

8 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup pure maple syrup

1 cup tomato sauce

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup water or chicken broth

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy (about 6-8 minutes). Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.

Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until softened (about 5 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beans, crispy bacon, sautéed onions and garlic, maple syrup, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

Add Liquid: Stir in the water or chicken broth until all the ingredients are well coated. Adjust the consistency to your preference, adding more liquid if desired.

Bake: Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and hot through.

Serve and Garnish: Let the beans cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and enjoy your sweet and smoky Maple Bacon Baked Beans!
