Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic (minced)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for heat preference)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to achieve a nice sear when cooking. Season them with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Old Bay seasoning, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat until the butter has melted and is starting to foam.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes without moving them, allowing them to develop a golden-brown crust. Flip the shrimp and cook for another 1-2 minutes until they are opaque and cooked through. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.

Add Garlic and Spice: Push the shrimp to one side of the skillet. In the empty side, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic. Let the garlic cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then mix it with the shrimp.

Finish with Lemon and Herbs: Squeeze the lemon juice and add the lemon zest to the skillet, tossing everything together gently. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and adjust seasoning as needed.

Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side. Enjoy your zesty pan-fried shrimp over a bed of rice, pasta, or a fresh salad.
