8 oz. spaghetti or your favorite pasta

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 large garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Juice of half a lemon

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. In the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pot. Drain the pasta and broccoli, and reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
