Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Extra sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter, mixing until well integrated.

Stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until fully combined.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then incorporate the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined (be careful not to over-mix).

Fold in the chopped nuts if using, then gently swirl in half of the salted caramel sauce (reserving the other half for topping).

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, drizzle the remaining salted caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt for that perfect balance of sweet and salty.

Cut into bars and serve. Enjoy!
