6 tbsp unsalted butter

10 fresh sage leaves, plus extra for garnish

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for serving

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a touch of heat)

Zest of 1 lemon

Fresh lemon juice, to taste

Cook the Spaghetti: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.

    Brown the Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter foams and turns a golden brown color, about 4-5 minutes. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.

      Add Sage and Garlic: Once the butter is browned, add the fresh sage leaves. Sauté for about 1 minute until the sage becomes crispy. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.

        Combine Pasta with Sauce: Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat in the brown butter sage sauce. If the pasta seems dry, gradually add some reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
