Ingredients

20 jumbo pasta shells

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg, beaten

2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Shells: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool.

Prepare the Beef Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with chopped onions. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the beef is no longer pink, and the onions are softened. Add garlic and sauté for an additional minute, until fragrant.

Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, oregano, basil, and season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Stuff the Shells: Carefully stuff each pasta shell with the beef and cheese filling. Use a spoon to pack them generously.

Assemble the Dish: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the stuffed shells upright in the dish. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well-coated.

Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top of the shells.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
