Ingredients

7 cups day-old cinnamon rolls, chopped into bite-sized pieces

4 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup raisins (optional)

1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

1/2 cup maple syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Prepare the bread: In a large bowl, combine the chopped cinnamon rolls and optional raisins and nuts. Toss gently to combine and spread evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Make the custard: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure that all the bread is soaked in the custard.

Soak: Let the mixture sit for about 15-20 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle with maple syrup before serving for added sweetness.

Enjoy: Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra special treat!
